Abstract: This Commentary was stimulated by controversies about 14 -19 education and training in England. The underlying issues also arise in different ways in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Policy in this area is diverging between the four home countries. This Commentary on 14-19 Education draws on evidence from TLRP projects working in post-compulsory settings. However, issues from schools are also likely to apply as personalisation develops within 14-19 education and training. Both sectors would benefit from more conceptual clarity, and from more awareness of the interconnectedness of the issues involved. This is a necessary foundation for the development of coherent policy and practice.
